Today, the distribution of California condors has shrunk to only a few regions in California and Arizona.
California condors live primarily in rocky scrublands and savannahs, and require several aspects in a habitat in order to survive, including wide, open foraging grounds (a breeding condor may forage up to 180km of land), ample sources of carrion, and reliable winds and thermals that enable and aid in soaring. California condors also need the presence of rocky cliffs or any other high-altitude crevice, as they use these as nest sites.
